Dear student,

The new Erasmus+ mobility call for applications should be published in December.

To get an idea of the locations and the previous call for applications (so that you can check the language requirements REQUIRED by the various foreign universities), you can view the various dedicated pages on the departmental website at this link

https://coris.web.uniroma1.it/it/mobilita-uscita-outgoing

One of the first things to consider in order to best prepare for your participation in mobility programmes abroad is improving your language skills and obtaining certification.

The options available obviously also include the University Language Centre (CLA)

https://cla.web.uniroma1.it/it

(Please check the requirements of the various partner universities carefully).

The largest number of locations are in Spain, and in order to obtain a valid certification, the University Language Centre refers to the Instituto Cervantes

https://roma.cervantes.es/it/default.shtm

The certificate is recognised worldwide, allowing you to

For French (useful for locations in France and Belgium)

the references are those of the Institut français Centre Saint-Louis

https://www.ifcsl.com/centre-saint-louis/delfdalf-adulti#/

Reduced rates reserved for students of La Sapienza University

For the English language (there are various foreign locations that offer courses in this language and/or are English-friendly (in Austria, Belgium, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Greece, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, the Czech Republic, Romania, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey and Hungary), you can see here

https://cla.web.uniroma1.it/it/corsi-ed-esami-certificazioni-lingua-ingl...

If you would like to certify your Portuguese, please contact the Brazilian Embassy in Rome

In relation to the activities you can carry out on Erasmus, there are certainly your EXAMS (which can be validated regardless of the semester and year of delivery at Sapienza). The “elective exams” are particularly useful, as they make it easier for you to identify possible corresponding exams abroad (please also read the attachment to this communication!).

Your thesis can also form the basis of your mobility, but it is always necessary to include at least one 6-credit exam, as the limit of 12 credits recognised upon return must be respected (otherwise there will be financial penalties) and the thesis cannot cover the required credits, as validation is only possible for two-thirds of the total credits required for the “final exam”. (please read your study plan carefully on your INFOSTUD account).

For OVERSEAS mobility, which allows you to study in countries outside Europe (Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Chile, China, Colombia, Morocco, Mexico, Georgia, South Africa, Uruguay), the call for applications is expected to be published in January/February 2026. In this case too, it is a good idea to start with language skills and check the educational offer of the partners (see the call for applications for the 2025-26 academic year attached, which may be subject to change for 2026-27 with regard to admission requirements for the locations).
