Curriculum

Dr. Arianna Latini, PhD – ENEA Researcher (DUEE-SIST-NORD Lab). Bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences - Molecular Biology (La Sapienza University, Rome, 2004) and PhD in Genetics and Cellular Biology (La Tuscia University, Viterbo, 2008). After an initial training at ENEA in molecular biology and plant physiology, with a particular interest in plant responses to abiotic stresses and especially drought, during her PhD she collaborated with the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CYMMIT in Mexico), where she gained solid experience in setting up and managing field trials. Later she confirmed her expertise as a “Plant Scientist” with a postdoc at the Canadian Forest Service in Quebec City, Canada, and several short-term contracts at the Council for Agricultural Research and Economics (CREA), where among other activities she worked on plant-pathogen systems and the components underlying biotic stress resistance. In 2013 she was hired by ENEA in the Energu Efficiency Agriculture Service. She has worked on numerous national and EU research projects. Reseach topics of interest include the agri-food system, including the energy efficiency and resource use (water and nutrients) in agriculture and agro-industry; soil fertilization and organic amendments, including biochar, compost, digestate, and neem cake; ecosystem service of carbon sequestration and the microbial biodiversity of soils in relation to different agricultural management practices. In the last years, she has conducted several experimentation and dissemination of Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) for buildings and green cities, particularly green roofs, living walls, to promote their environmental sustainability.
