Curriculum

Mineralogist with a strong background in crystallography and extensive research experience, specializing in structure-properties correlation for environmental sciences and the reuse of materials from industrial processes, collaborating with national and international academic and industrial partners. Expert in material characterization particularly in traditional X-ray powder diffraction (XRPD) technique and total scattering.
Specialist in structure investigation, quantitative and qualitative phase analysis of microporous materials, nano-materials, mineralogical mixtures, and technological materials.

Research topic
My research activity is based on the characterization of the structure of materials and minerals (primarily through X-ray powder diffraction and total scattering techniques) and its impact on their properties, functions, and applications. My primary research areas include i) the use and characterization of porous materials (such as zeolites) and porous hybrid materials applied to environmental sciences (CO2 absorption, energetic purpose, trapping of ions and molecules); ii) the synthesis or reuse and characterization of materials resulting from industrial processing (zeolite spent catalysts, ceramics, combustion waste ashes); iii) examining the structure of technological materials and studying their resulting properties. As an expert in qualitative and quantitative phase analysis, I've also been involved in numerous projects aimed at identifying and quantifying different phases/minerals within complex polycrystalline mixtures.
