Maria Clara Ghia
Architetta, PhD in Architettura (Sapienza Università di Roma) e in Filosofia (Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3), è professoressa associata di Storia dell’architettura presso la Sapienza Università di Roma, dove fa parte del Collegio dei docenti del Dottorato di ricerca in «Architettura. Teorie e Progetto». È stata Senior Lecturer presso la Umeå University in Svezia.
I suoi studi si rivolgono prevalentemente all’architettura del XX e XXI secolo, con particolare attenzione al periodo del secondo dopoguerra, alle relazioni fra etica e progetto, e fra arte e architettura.
È advisor per l’architettura presso l’American Academy in Rome, membro del comitato direttivo di Aistarch (Associazione Italiana di Storia dell’Architettura) e dell’Associazione di Storia della Città, nonché di diversi comitati redazionali di collane e riviste di storia dell’architettura. È inoltre membro di Do.Co.Mo.Mo Italy e ha collaborato con il Ministero della Cultura su programmi per la tutela e la valorizzazione dell’architettura contemporanea.
Autrice di oltre cento contributi pubblicati in riviste, volumi collettanei e atti di convegno, ha scritto le monografie Architecture as a Living Act. Leonardo Ricci (San Francisco, 2022), Da Roma verso il mare. Storie, percorsi, immagini della città moderna e contemporanea (Roma, 2017) e Prescrivere Liberare. Saggio su ethos e architettura (Roma, 2013).
Nel 2011 ha vinto il Premio Internazionale Bruno Zevi e nel 2019 il Premio Enrico Guidoni.
Curriculum
Maria Clara Ghia
Architect, PhD in Architecture (Sapienza University of Rome) and in Philosophy (Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3), she is Associate Professor of History of Architecture at Sapienza University of Rome, where she is a member of the Academic Board of the PhD Program in “Architecture. Theory and Design.” She was formerly Senior Lecturer at Umeå University in Sweden.
Her research focuses mainly on twentieth- and twenty-first-century architecture, with particular attention to the post-war period and to the relationships between ethics and design, and between art and architecture.
She is Architecture Advisor at the American Academy in Rome, a member of the Executive Board of Aistarch (Italian Association of History of Architecture) and of the Association for the History of the City, as well as of several editorial boards of academic series and journals in architectural history. She is also a member of Do.Co.Mo.Mo Italy and has collaborated with the Italian Ministry of Culture on programs for the protection and promotion of contemporary architecture.
Author of more than one hundred contributions published in journals, collective volumes, and conference proceedings, she has written the monographs Architecture as a Living Act. In 2011 she was awarded the Bruno Zevi International Prize, and in 2019 the Enrico Guidoni Prize.
