Obiettivi formativi

A) Conoscenza e capacità di comprensione, analisi e contestualizzazione dei testi letterari con il supporto di testi critici avanzati. B) Capacità di applicare le conoscenze acquisite per sostenere argomentazioni o sviluppare idee originali nel proprio campo di studi.

Programma
This course will focus on British and contemporary Anglophone literature, with an emphasis on the period of the "new imperialism" and its long-term consequences. We will trace the connections between aesthetic and socio-cultural transformations, using our historically grounded readings to highlight key theoretical and methodological issues. We will pay particular attention to literature and empire, literature and the Cold War, literature in multicultural Britain, and literature in a postcolonial context.
