3. RESEARCH INTERESTS

• Comparative Semitic linguistics, lexicon and onomastics;
• Epigraphy and archaeology of pre-Islamic South Arabia;
• Aspects and patterns of the pre-Islamic Arabian society and religion, esp. concerning the expiation rituals;
• Birth and diffusion of the Western Semitic linear scripts;
• Ancient Aramaic documentation.
