ALERT: Students who will take part in the focus group for the module “Narratives of Religious Freedom and Discrimination” (NoRFaD) this academic year to be exempted from part of their exam must enroll in the NoRFaD Google Classroom (GC) focus group (see code below) by March 2, 2025. Furthermore, they must attend the first class of the module, where they will receive guidelines on the focus group and its rules.
Online enrollments that do not meet these two requirements will be considered invalid. Please note that withdrawal from the focus group will be possible, but late enrollment will not be accepted. Similarly, no extension or exception will be granted regarding the date and rules communicated on this website.

The module “Narratives of Religious Freedom and Discrimination” (NoRFaD) is scheduled for the second semester of the a.y. 2024-2025 every Thursday (02:00-04:00 p.m.) in Aula XXII and Friday (04:00-06:00 p.m.) in Aula V at the Faculty of Humanities and Philosophy building starting from March 6, 2025. The codes to enroll in the NoRFaD course and focus group on Google Classroom (GC) are liebqru and rluk4ga. More details about the structure of the course and its focus group will be provided in the first NoRFaD class.

Il corso di “Storia delle religioni” (SdR) per gli studenti di “Mediazione Linguistica e Interculturale” si svolgerà nel secondo semestre dell’a.a. 2024-2025. Le lezioni si terranno ogni giovedì (16:00-18:00) e venerdì (14:00-16:00) presso l’Aula E delle ex Vetrerie Sciarra e inizieranno il 6 marzo 2025. Il codice per iscriversi al corso su Google Classroom (GC) è oizfjle. Maggiori dettagli sulla struttura del corso verranno fornite durante la prima lezione.

Students aiming to graduate under Professor Bernardo’s supervision must commence work on their thesis at least one year prior to the anticipated defense date. Requests for thesis supervision should adhere to the indicated timelines.

Angela Bernardo è professoressa associata in Storia delle religioni presso Sapienza Università di Roma. Ha conseguito una laurea in Scienze Politiche presso Sapienza Università di Roma, un dottorato di ricerca in Storia d'Europa ed è mediatrice civile professionista. Dal 2014 al 2020 è stata assegnista di ricerca in Storia delle Religioni presso il Dipartimento di Storia Antropologia Religioni Arte Spettacolo (già Dipartimento di Storie Culture Religioni) della Sapienza Università di Roma, con un focus su religioni e spazio pubblico in Europa, pluralismo religioso e mediazione. L'ultimo libro che ha pubblicato, con le Edizioni Quasar, è il volume del 2020 «Ricostruire una comunità: la Chiesa copta ortodossa in Europa». Dal 2012-2013 ha coordinato il settore dell'alta formazione e i servizi di placement/stage del Master in «Digital Heritage: Cultural Communication Through Digital Technologies» e del Master in «Religioni e Mediazione Culturale» della Sapienza Università di Roma, del cui consiglio scientifico è membro. Nel 2015 ha curato, con Alessandro Saggioro, la traduzione italiana dei «Toledo Guiding Principles on Teaching about Religions and Beliefs in Public Schools OSCE/ODIHR». Dal 2017 al 2020 è stata project manager del progetto 2015 ERC PAThs diretto da Paola Buzi. Fino al 2023 Angela Bernardo è stata borsista Marie Curie e ha portato avanti il progetto «NEGOTIA Negotiating Religion: Coptic Orthodox diaspora communities. Shifting identities, needs, and relations from Egypt to Europe and back» (GA-Grant Agreement n. 896918). Dal 2022 al 2024 ha anche gestito il progetto «DoCoR Donne copte ortodosse in Italia: identità, memorie e rappresentazioni di una componente religiosa e di genere» per sviluppare una ricerca legata ai presupposti teorico-metodologici del progetto NEGOTIA. Angela Bernardo è co-presidente della Program Unit «Religion and Public Schools: International Perspectives» (RPS) e membro della Program Unit «Religion in Europe» (RiE) dell'American Academy of Religion (AAR).

Angela Bernardo is an associate professor in History of Religions at Sapienza University of Rome. She holds a degree in Political Science from Sapienza University of Rome, a Ph.D. in History of Europe, and is a professional civil mediator. From 2014 to 2020 she was a research fellow in History of Religions at the Dept. of History Anthropology Religions Art Performing Arts (former Dept. of History Cultures Religions) of Sapienza University of Rome, with a focus on religions and public space in Europe, religious pluralism, and mediation. The latest book she published, with Edizioni Quasar, is the 2020 volume «Reconstructing a community: The Coptic Orthodox Church in Europe» (in Italian). Since 2012-2013 she has coordinated the higher education sector and placement/internship services of the Master in «Digital Heritage: Cultural Communication Through Digital Technologies» and of the Master in «Religions and Cultural Mediation» of Sapienza University of Rome, of whose scientific board she is a member. In 2015, she edited, with Alessandro Saggioro, the Italian translation of the «Toledo Guiding Principles on Teaching about Religions and Beliefs in Public Schools OSCE/ODIHR». From 2017 to 2020 she was the project manager of the 2015 ERC PAThs project directed by Paola Buzi. Until 2023, Angela Bernardo was a Marie Curie fellow and carried out the project «NEGOTIA Negotiating Religion: Coptic Orthodox diaspora communities. Shifting identities, needs, and relations from Egypt to Europe and back» (GA-Grant Agreement n. 896918). From 2022 to 2024 she also carried out the project «CopticWomen Coptic Orthodox Women in Italy. Identities, Memories, and Representations of a Religious and Gender Group» (in Italian) to develop a research linked to the theoretical-methodological approach of the NEGOTIA project. Angela Bernardo is a co-chair of the Program Unit «Religion and Public Schools: International Perspectives» (RPS) and a member of the Program Unit «Religion in Europe» (RiE) of the American Academy of Religion (AAR).
