Curriculum

Luigi Martirano was born in Cosenza, Italy in 1973.
He received the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering in 1998 and 2003.
He is a Full Professor in electrical power systems.
In 2000, he joined the Department of Electrical Engineering of the University of Rome "La Sapienza".
He is the Coordinator of the Electrical Department of DIAEE
Responsible of the Laboratory of Power Systems and Building Automation in the DIAEE
He is member of the following boards:
ELectrical Engineering Degree ELED,
ENergetic Engineering Degree ENED,
SAfety Engineering Degree SAED,
Electrical Engineering PhD Board,
He’is member of the Scientific Board of the Master in Lighting Design.

He is active in Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers IEEE (Student Member since 1998, Member since 2002, Senior Member since 2011). He is member of Industry Application Society IAS, Vice Chair of IAS Italy Section.
General Chair and member of the Steering Committe of the International Conference on Environment and Electrical Engineering IEEE EEEIC.
He has authored more than 270 papers in international journals and conferences and one international patent.
His research activities cover: power systems design, special distribution for strategic buildings and smart grids, 1 kv distribution, planning, safety, lighting, home and building automation, energy management, green buildings, smart control and fuzzy logic, energy storage, solar power plants, cogeneration, grounding and lightning
He is member of the AEIT (Italian Association of Electrical and Electronics Engineers), Delegate Italian Member of CEN/CENELEC JWG9 Meterng and monitoring systems , Expert Member of the CEI (Italian Electrical Commission) Technical Committees CT205 (Home and Building Electronic Systems) and CT315 (Energy Efficiency). He is Chair of the Working Group about Interior Lighting Systems.
He is Associate Editor of the Journal “Transactions on Industry Applications" IEEE.
