Curriculum

Nadia Andrea Andreani is an Assistant Professor (Ricercatrice a tempo determinato in tenure track) at the Department of Biology and Biotechnology 'Charles Darwin'. She is a biotechnologist with over ten years of experience in microbiological research. She has worked in laboratories both in Italy and Europe, gaining expertise in different areas of microbiology, with a focus on bacteria of medical and environmental interest. Her skills include the use of modern analytical techniques, such as metabarcoding, shotgun metagenomic sequencing, Whole Genome Sequencing, and bioinformatics. In addition, she has conducted research in microbial genetics, food microbiology, animal stem cell biology and virology.
Her research focuses on the gut microbiome and its role in anorexia nervosa. Her work is the continuation of her last postdoc position at Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Biology to explore the gut-brain axis, investigating microbial communities and their potential influence on disease mechanisms.
She serves as Editor-in-chief for the Journal of Inflammation research and is member of the organising committee of MVIF (Microbiome Virtual International Forum).
