The Course of Traffic Engineering and Intelligent Transport Systems is divided into two parts: one, in the first Semester, is focused on the fundamentals of Traffic Theory and its applications to Traffic Engineering; the other, in the Second Semester, deals with methods and technologies for Traffic Engineering and Intelligent Transport Systems applications. A Traffic Control Project will be prepared by students all along the course.
However, the course is unique and the exam will be held at the end of the whole course, corresponding to the end of the second semester.
The final exam consists of written and oral tests during which the students will present their projects.
An intermediate informal test will be held at the end of the first semester to be exempted from the part of the written exam dealt with during the first semester.

COORDINAMENTO DI PROGETTI DI RICERCA
Responsabile scientifico di numerosi progetti di ricerca commissionati da Enti nazionali ed esteri svolti presso l’Università di Roma La Sapienza, nel Dipartimento Idraulica, Trasporti e Strade (DITS) e nel Centro di Ricerca per il Trasporto e la Logistica (CTL), a partire dal 2004. In particolare, è responsabile scientifico delle valutazioni di impatto sulle politiche dei trasporti della Commissione Europea, Direzione DG TREN, poi DG MOVE, svolte in un consorzio coordinato da PricewaterhouseCoopers.
GRUPPO DI LAVORO
Responsabile scientifico di 6 assegni di ricerca (dal 2010 ad oggi), di 12 contratti di collaborazione coordinata e continuativa e di 5 contratti di collaborazione professionale erogati dal Dipartimento Ingegneria Civile Edile e Ambientale e nel Centro di Ricerca per il Trasporto e la Logistica dell’Università di Roma La Sapienza.
SUPERVISIONE DI DOTTORANDI DI RICERCA
Membro del Collegio dei Docenti del Dottorato di Ricerca in “Infrastrutture e Trasporti” dell’Università di Roma La Sapienza dal 2003; tutore di 3 Dottori di Ricerca tra il 2003 ed il 2010 e di 6 dottorandi dal 2009 ad oggi.
VALUTAZIONE DI PROGETTI DI RICERCA
Dal febbraio 2002 è esperto tecnico scientifico del MIUR per il settore Trasporti.
In quest’ambito, è stato incaricato da diversi Enti della valutazione ex ante ed in itinere di rilevanti progetti di ricerca nazionali (PON “Ricerca, sviluppo tecnologico ed alta formazione” 2000-2006 del settore Trasporti; Grandi Progetti Strategici della ricerca per il settore Trasporti; Programmi di Innovazione PIA del Ministero delle Attività Produttive; Provincia Autonoma di Trento: progetti di innovazione).
