Types of Cytological Samples (2 hours)
• Gynecological cytology: Pap test
• Non-gynecological cytology: urine, sputum, effusions
• Fine-needle aspiration cytology (FNA): thyroid, lymph nodes, breast
• Methods of collection and preservation
Fixation and Slide Preparation (2 hours)
• Fixation techniques: physical and chemical (alcohol, spray)
• Smear preparation and centrifugation techniques
• Mounting and labeling of slides
• Prevention of artifacts
Basic Cytological Staining Methods (2 hours)
• Papanicolaou stain: principles, steps, reagent preparation
