THREE-DIMENSIONAL MODELING

Course objectives

Upon completion of the course the student must know the biological effects of ionizing radiation which are the basis of radiation protection standards. At the end of the course the student must distinguish the decrees legislation protecting the worker and the population in terms of radiation protection.

Course program
Radiation Physics: Understanding the nature of ionizing radiation and its interactions with matter. Dosimetry: Study and use of devices to measure radiation exposure for both patients and operators. Active and Passive Protection: Techniques to reduce exposure, such as distance, exposure time, and the use of shielding (e.g., aprons, goggles). Legislation and Regulations: Knowledge of national and international radiation protection laws (e.g., Legislative Decree 101/2020 and subsequent amendments), which regulate the use of radiological equipment. Clinical Applications: How to apply safety procedures when performing dental radiographic examinations, such as intraoral and panoramic x-rays. Emergency Management: Procedures to follow in the event of accidents or accidental exposure to radiation.
