THREE-DIMENSIONAL MODELING
Course objectives
At the end of the course, the student should know the basic principles of paediatric nutrition (breast-feeding, mixed feeding, formula feeding, complementary feeding in omnivourous, vegetarian and vegan families); development stages of the healthy child; origins of obesity; nutritional approach to the child with weight excess; principles of nutrition of the pregnant and breast-feeding woman, either omnivorous or vegetarian/vegan; paediatric Italian RDA (LARN). Besides, the student should be able to evaluate the nutritional intakes of children, both with normal weight and with weight excess, and to build up an adequate nutritional scheme for both kinds of children.

Course program
evaluation of dietary-nutritional risk and protection factors related to primary, secondary and tertiary prevention in pediatrics; diet and nutrition during the different stages of childhood and adolescence; impact of nutritional status (body composition, energy and nutrient balance, functionality) on the physiopathology of development and growth; dietetic treatment of nutritional pathologies in pediatric age; pharmacological treatment, psychonutritional rehabilitation.
