THREE-DIMENSIONAL MODELING
Course objectives
The MATERIAL DESIGN STUDIO aims to transfer critical tools to students to investigate and develop product innovation that arises from the application of new materials or new manufacturing processes of traditional materials. Frontal teaching and practical experiences will concern: - the analysis of the main technological, physical and perceptual properties, of the mechanical behavior and of the production processes of the main innovative and traditional materials for innovative use; - the acquisition of basic knowledge for the industrial design of products optimized with respect to the main environmental compatibility performances; - the relationship between material properties and the design process; - the development of meta-design solutions exemplifying the correct application of technological and performance properties; - the verification of the morphological potential of innovative materials. Two modules contribute to the Course: DESIGN OF INNOVATIVE MATERIALS (6CFU - ICAR/13) dedicated to the development of methods and approaches that allow the experimental development of materials by investigating their opportunities in the various application fields of Product Design. TECNOLOGIES FOR INNOVATIVE MANUFACTURING (6CFU – ING-IND/16) dedicated to the knowledge of innovative materials and their performance in both functional, usability and aesthetic terms.
