Course program
The course aims at providing students with detailed knowledge of Work Organization and Human Resources Management.
Subjects of study include:
1) Theories and practices in HRM (about 10 hours)
- Strategic Human Resource Management
- HR competencies and configurations
- Theories of motivation
- Knowledge, Skill, and Competencies
2)Planning, recruitment, and selection (14 hours)
- Human Resource Planning
- Selection and Recruitment
- HR Balanced Scorecard
- Labor markets
3) Relations (4 hours)
- The psychological contract
- Commitment and engagement
4) Work performance (22 hours)
- Staff training and Learning methods
- Employee reward policies
- Performance management
- Performance appraisal
- Employees participation
- Diversity management and work-life balance
Lectures will be integrated with the discussion and presentation of business case studies, exercises and/or project works (22 hours).
Prerequisites
A basic knowledge of Business Organization is strongly encouraged
Books
- "Risorse Umane. Persone, Relazioni e Valore", Giovanni Costa, Martina Gianecchini. McGraw Hill, excluding the following sections:
- Chapter 2 (totally excluded);
- Chapter 4: Paragraph 4.4 is excluded;
- Capitolo 5: Paragraphs from 5.1 to 5.3 are excluded;
- Capitolo 7 (totally excluded).
Other materials will be provided by the teacher during the lessons.
Teaching mode
Lectures will be integrated with the discussion and presentation of business case studies, exercises and/or project works.
Frequency
Attendance to the course is recommended but not mandatory
Exam mode
The exam (held at the end of the course) aims at assessing both theoretical knowledge and analytical skills. It consists of an oral exam. For attending students, the final evaluation will include the total of scores they achieved during the course through the participation to project works and work groups.
