THREE-DIMENSIONAL MODELING
Course objectives
Acquire knowledge on the molecular and cellular basis of the immune response, on the fundamental mechanisms responsible for protection and for tissue damage, and their specific role in the resistance against pathogens, alloantigens, tumors and in immune-mediated diseases.

General properties of the immune system: Innate and adaptive immunity.
Lymphoid organs, immune system cells, hematopoiesis, and leukocyte trafficking.
Innate immunity: cells and soluble mediators. Complement.
Mucosal immunity. Principles of vaccination.
Immunity and transplants.
Prerequisites
Knowledge of biological chemistry, physiology, the anatomo-histological bases and physiopathological mechanisms of human systems and apparatuses

The evaluation methods are characterized by exam sessions set in the scheduled sessions (2 for each session; plus some extraordinary sessions).
The oral exam involves an assessment in which the teachers will verify the learning of knowledge. The final result will be expressed out of thirty.
