Course objectives

Know and understand pharmacokynetics, pharmacodynamics and the mechanisms of toxicity of drugs Know how to make, on the basis of knowledge of pharmacokynetics and pharmacodynamics, an evaluation of the drug and to make a reasoned choice of the method and duration of administration Be aware of the factors that influence pharmacological effects, adverse reactions and the interaction between drugs, as well as the ethical and socio-economic implications inherent in the prescription of drugs.

PHARMACOLOGY AND TOXICOLOGY II: Drugs of the cardiovascular system: antihypertensives, anti-anginal drugs, drugs for the treatment of heart failure, antiarrhythmics, anti-dyslipidaemic drugs, antiplatelet drugs, anticoagulants, fibrinolytics. Diuretics. Neuropsychopharmacology: antiparkinsonian drugs. Anticonvulsant and antiepileptic drugs. Typical and atypical antipsychotic drugs. Drugs with sedative-hypnotic action. Antidepressant drugs: Tricyclics, monoamine oxidase inhibitors, selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, serotonin and noradrenaline reuptake inhibitors, noradrenergic and specifically serotoninergic anti-depressants, atypical anti-depressants. Mood stabilising drugs. Antiemicranics. Notes on substance use disorders.
