Attendance
Apprenticeship
The Medical Biotechnology program includes 48 hours of laboratory internship (3 credits) in the first year. In the second year, students are required to attend a research laboratory to carry out their experimental thesis (21 credits). It is possible to carry out both internships in the same facility, which can be either a laboratory at Sapienza or the headquarters of an affiliated external institution.
Required documentation:
If you are about to start an internship at Sapienza, you must fill out and send this form to clsbiotecnologie@uniroma1.it: https://drive.google.com/file/d/174Z__A6LlIxb36E6HxrCNPkfSb2aboBH/view?u...
If you are about to start an internship at an external organization affiliated with Sapienza, you must follow the procedure described on the internships page (https://www.uniroma1.it/it/pagina/tirocini). You will be required to access the Sapienza TSP platform, apply for an internship at the affiliated institution, and draw up a training project together with the external tutor, which will then be approved by the degree program.
For more information, contact the academic office (clsbiotecnologie@uniroma1.it) or Prof. Helena Stabile, who is responsible for internships (helena.stabile@uniroma1.it)
How to choose an internship:
The academic office periodically informs students about various internship opportunities. Every year, a meeting is organized with researchers from Sapienza and other research institutions to present students with numerous laboratory opportunities for their theses.
How to record the 3 credits for the first-year internship:
To record the 3 CFU credits for the first-year internship, you must send the academic office (clsbiotecnologie@uniroma1.it) a certificate signed and stamped by your tutor, certifying that you have completed the required 48 hours of activity, specifying the location, period, and type of activity carried out. The procedure is valid for both internships carried out within Sapienza and those carried out in other institutions.
Graduate
The final exam consists of a discussion, in front of a committee of professors, of a thesis written in the form of a dissertation, in an original manner, by the student under the guidance of a supervisor.
The thesis focuses on an experimental research project, conducted through attendance for no less than 12 months at a laboratory within a department of Sapienza University or at a research institution affiliated with the University.
The final exam tests the graduate's ability to independently carry out an experimental project in coordination with a research group, as well as their ability to clearly and competently describe, present, and discuss the results of the study conducted.
