AAF1902 | English B2 level [N/D] [ITA]2nd1st3
1022030 | architectural and building design 1 with design studio [ICAR/10] [ITA]2nd2nd12

Educational objectives

The target of the class is to give to the students, attending the second year of “Building Engineering-architecture” course, the basic knowledge of materials and building techniques in architecture. The target is also to create a complete and coherent architectural-design. The course defines the systemic reading of the building and wants to show how every constructive choice has to be contextualized during the operative praxis of design. The technical and constructive knowledge are necessary - but are not enough - for the students to planning a building.

projects referable to contemporary architecture
• set and control the design process not only during its representation but also its construction into the city context

GENERAL AIMS
The aim of the course is to help the students to achieve the knowledge concerning the following topics:
_ Principles and criteria for planning and design a good and sustainable city form;
_ Survey activities; Study of the morphology and the functional analysis of the urban structure;
_Tools for urban planning and urban design activities.

1012260 | Environmental technical Physics [ING-IND/11] [ITA]3rd1st9
1012202 | BUILDING SCIENCE [ICAR/08] [ITA]3rd2nd9

Educational objectives

Mechanics of Materials and Structures
The course provides the theoretical basis of structural engineering by
illustrating theoretical models and practical tools for the analysis of
structural systems (mainly those composed by beams), and examining
their equilibrium, compatibility, strength and stability. The topics
dealt with contribute to form the necessary knowledge to identify,
formulate and solve the structural problems of architectural design,
and to understand the technical language of structural engineering. The
expected objective is the learning of methodologies for setting and
solving many problems of structural analysis and design.At the end of the course students shall be able to analyze and solve
simple structural patterns, such as statically determinate and
indeterminate systems of beams and trusses, by evaluating their states
of stress and deformation and carrying out the safety check of the
cross sections. Moreover they shall know the basics of continuum
mechanics. The learning process is verified during the course through
exercises and written tests.

1023027 | ECONOMICS AND CIVIL VALUATION [ICAR/22] [ITA]3rd2nd9

Educational objectives

The course introduces the student to the theory and to the operating application of the economical evaluation models and of the procedures of evaluation related with the building process. The approach to the evaluation of the projects includes the subject of financial evaluations directed to monitor the “cost-benefit” relation that the project is meant to develop in the time and the economical evaluations (cost - benefit).Further on will be introduced the “multi-dimensional evaluations”, to extend the evaluation of the project to other dimensions (technologies, procedural, social, environmental, aesthetic-cultural)

1022092 | architecture and architectural composition 2 with design studio [ICAR/14] [ITA]3rd2nd12

Educational objectives

The course has the primary aim to prepare the students to plan their architectural projects autonomously, through a process of learning, developing and testing the tools of architectural design and construction, in order to achieve a synthesis that allows the control of a complex building. The essential aim of the course is to induce students to pay constant attention to the relationship between engineering, architecture and aesthetic trends of contemporary culture, inserting the architectural discipline and reflection on architectural composition in a multidisciplinary context. The students will have to complete the project of an architectural structure, located in a specific consolidated urban environment. At the same time, the students will have to reflect widely on the general problems of architecture and building such as, for example, the building-context relationship; the mutual relationship between internal and external space or between type and distribution; the dialectic between structure, form and function.

1031649 | structures design with design studio [ICAR/09] [ITA]4th1st12
