Traditional and renewable raw materials: oil, natural gas, biomass
Genesis and characteristics of the deposits. Recovery of hydrocarbons. Reserves and resources of conventional and unconventional hydrocarbons. Issues of "flow assurance"
Natural gas: composition and characteristics. Treatment of natural gas, LNG. transport (pipeline, LNG, hydrates). Market and economic aspects.
I and II generation biomass
Energy transformation processes of biomass: gasification, pyrolysis, hydrothermal liquefaction, fermentation and anaerobic digestion
Production of synthetic raw and bio-raw products
Characteristics of commercial products: LPG, solvents, kerosene, jet fuel, gas oils and diesel, fuel oils.
Catalysis and catalysts in the hydrocarbon industry
Refining processes of crude and biocrude to obtain commercial products.
Prerequisites
Students are required to have knowledge of chemical plants and to be able to read the process diagrams
