Course objectives

General objectives: To be able to design and evaluate a multimodal system. Specific objectives: To know the features and basic techniques related to the different human-computer communication channels: gestures, speech, etc. To know the cooperation modes among the different channels: to be able to design/implement fusion/fission of information on different channels. Knowledge and comprehension Theoretical fundamentals of communication over different channels. Fundamentals of design of a multimodal system. Applying knowledge and comprehension To be able to design and implement a multimodal application. Capabilities of critiquing and assessing: To be able to assess the performance and robustness of a multimodal application. Communication skills: To be able to communicate/share the requirements of a multimodal system, the most suited modalities for a certain application, and the performance measures of a system.
