"Series of Conferences: The Night of the West"

Illustration Course 2025-2026 at the Koefia Fashion Academy - 6 AAF credits

The Illustration Course, open to a maximum of 20 students*, will be held at the Koefia International Academy of Art and Costume in Rome, according to the attached calendar.

The course awards 6 credits, to be recorded in the AAF, and is intended for third-year students who have passed at least one Drawing exam (ICAR/).

To access the course, please send an email by February 25th to the contact for the Scienze della moda e del costume office at giovanna.maisano@uniroma1.it and in cc to the Internship Committee Coordinator, Professor Mario Calabrese, at mario.calabrese@uniroma1.it. The application must include a list of exams taken and their grades, which can be downloaded from infostud.
Applications will be evaluated based on the average grade (minimum 25) and the successful completion of the Drawing exam.

A ranking of those admitted will be published on the Degree Course website before the seminars begin. The first lesson will be held on February 28th.

CHANNEL CHANGE REQUESTS FOR MODERN ART HISTORY (3rd year - 2nd semester)

Channel changes are permitted only for scheduling reasons: whether due to work schedules or overlaps with other courses, both must be documented.
The maximum number of requests for each channel is 10.

The request must be submitted in a single email, starting Monday, February 23, and no later than March 8, 2026, to the two professors interested in the exchange and, for information, to the President of the Degree Program in Historical and Artistic Studies (Prof. Cerone roberta.cerone@uniroma1.it) and to the Academic Secretariat (elisa.pettinelli@uniroma1.it).

Requests received before the start of classes or after the deadline of March 8, 2026, will not be considered.

ATTENTION! Professor Francesco Freddolini (History of Modern Art) has reached the maximum number of available changes. You can request a channel change to Professors Valter Curzi and Massimo Moretti, who still have available spots (updated February 23).

The workshop aims to provide undergraduate students in the Scienze della moda e del costume degree program with the basic tools for approaching the scientific writing required for their final thesis, or more generally for academic texts. The course consists of 14 hours of training, plus exercises given by instructors, to be completed either in class or independently.

Attendance for the entire course (ONLY ONE ABSENCE is permitted) and submission of any required assignments entitles students to 3 AAF credits.

The course will be held every Saturday morning from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm in the Geography Room of the Facoltà di Lettere e filosofia, starting in March 2026.

TOPICS: Research and qualitative data collection: fieldwork, the ethnographic method, interviews.

TOPICS: Research and source collection: databases. Types of sources (primary, secondary) and source authority.

LESSON 5 - (Prof. Ferri) APRIL 11

TOPICS: How to format a thesis, layout, and graphic structure of the sections.

LESSON 6 - 5/4 (Prof. Pulvirenti) APRIL 18

TOPICS: Online research: how to use digital archives.

LECTURE 7 - (Prof. Battista) MAY 9

TOPICS: Citing sources. How to cite books, scientific articles (both print and online), and online information. The difference between plagiarism and citation.

The second semester will begin on Monday, February 23. However, some classes may begin later, at the discretion of the instructors. To this end, please check the information published on the instructor's profile. If the instructor's name is not listed on the course webpage, it means the assignment process is still ongoing and the relevant information will be published as soon as possible. Therefore, the start of classes for instructors yet to be appointed will be postponed until the course is assigned. Classes will be held in person. Due to the recent cyber attack on Sapienza University, the "Timetable" section is temporarily unavailable. Until the website is fully restored, the class schedule will be published below and in the attached file.

Starting March 13th, a series of seminars will present the main
professional roles in the fashion industry and the construction of a creative and professional identity.

Reclaiming (Feminist) Justice, January 16, Chabod Hall, 9:00 AM
Attendance at the event, accompanied by the submission of a paper, will earn one AAF credit.

The Scienze della moda e del costume adheres to Sguardi sulle Differenze  Laboratory program of the Department of European, American, and Intercultural Studies, which you can find attached. For the required commitment, you can earn 6 AAF credits by following the procedures:
- Attend at least 5 of the 7 meetings in person and retrieve the recordings of the missed meetings; active attendance is required (participation in the discussion in the second part of each meeting);
- Read the materials provided for each meeting (currently being published on the website);
- Write a paper (max. 30,000 characters) commenting and reflecting on the experience of the entire cycle, demonstrating not only attendance at meetings but also critical reading of the materials.
- Attend at least one of the two meetings offered, which will provide methodological guidance for studying the materials and writing the paper.

"Style-me: l'arte del raccontare con l'immagine" events, open to students' social and cultural initiatives.
The meetings will be held on November 26th in Room V from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on December 2nd in Room IV from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.

The workshop aims to illustrate the opportunity offered to former students of fashion schools and academies to participate in a fashion management workshop on the topic of the fashion of the future.

The workshop will begin in January 2026, and participants will have the opportunity to delve deeper into the management of a fashion company, interact directly with established entrepreneurs, and explore new techniques for creating innovative and sustainable prototypes in the industry.

Seminar "From Himation to Brand: Dressing Women in Luxury," October 15, 2025, 2:00 PM, Chabod Hall
The event program is available in the attached flyer.
Attendance at the seminar may be recognized for  one AAF 1155 credit by submitting a paper to your supervisor for registration, following the instructions for obtaining AAFs.
The paper must be between 8,000 and 12,000 characters, excluding images, in New Roman font, and must illustrate a specific aspect of the seminar in an original manner.
