Italian Sign Language III

Course objectives

A) Knowledge and understanding: The student will be able to understand enough to be able to follow a broad discourse on abstract and complex topics on most fields, eventually needing some help to clarify peculiar expressions in a linguistic variety he/she is not familiar with. He/she will be able to recognize many idiomatic and slang expressions and to catch changes in the register. He/She will be able to follow a long speech even when not clearly structured and if the relationships remain implicit. B) Ability to apply knowledge and understanding: The student will be able to apply his/her knowledge to easily follow complex interactions even in group discussions and to identify digressions, colloquial and idiomatic expressions and their possible diatopic varieties. C) Autonomy of judgment: in comparison with other sign language users, the student will be able to measure their competence and consciously manage numerous and varied levels of linguistic expression. D) Communication skills: the student will be able to communicate easily through the LIS even in complex interactions in group discussions and to identify digressions, colloquial and idiomatic expressions and their possible diatopic varieties. E) Learning skills: the student will be able to improve his / her expressive skills autonomously by referring profitably to the appropriate consultation tools.

Prerequisites
(A) Knowledge and understanding: The student is able to understand what is marked on both familiar and unfamiliar topics that are normally addressed in life, social relationships, study and at work. Only inadequate discursive structure and/or the use of idiomatic or not yet fully codified or highly iconic expressions can prejudice the understanding of the message (B) Ability to apply knowledge and understanding: Is able to apply this knowledge to communicate clear information on less common and abstract topics relating to everyday life or work, and to understand technical and moderately complex discussions. (C) Autonomy of judgement: in comparison with other signers, the learner will be able to measure his or her competence and to deepen through imitation – which is one of the basic assumptions of language learning – further levels of expression. (D) Communication skills: The student will be able to communicate through LIS clear information on less common and abstract topics relating to everyday life or work, and to understand technical and moderately complex discussions. (E) Learning ability: the student will also be able to independently improve his expressive skills by making fruitful reference to the appropriate consultation tools.

Frequency
Two hours of in-person or remote lessons on Wednesdays from 6pm to 8pm.

- Comprehension Test: Video in LIS with multiple choice questionnaire - Transcription Test: Video in LIS with transcription in Italian - Test Voice Put: Video in LIS with simultaneous voice - Oral questions on the program whose answers must be produced in Italian and LIS - International Sign: IS Video Analysis with description of linguistic characteristics
Lesson mode
The lessons will all be both frontal and with the possibility of connecting remotely. During the lessons, in addition to theoretical parts presented through slides, videos and other documents will be presented and analyzed in an interactive way that will require the direct participation of students.
