CZECH AND SLOVAKIAN LANGUAGE II
Course objectives
A complete historical survey, basic grammar and syntax structures of Czech and Slovak language are provided (B1 level). Translation into Italian of short texts from everyday communication and press is exercised.

Course program
The course consists of two parts:
A) Lessons about history of Czech and Slovak languages; syntax and linguistics (competition of verbal aspects, formation of words, dislocation); elements of literary translation.
B) Language training by native Czech or Slovak teachers; students gain a B1 level of competence.
Prerequisites
A2 level of Czech or Slovak.

Teaching mode
A) Lessons take place during the whole school year. Lessons are accompanied by practical seminars, during which students can exercise their competence.
B) Language teaching by mother tongue teachers (about 80-85 hours) takes place during the whole school year; students are guided in their work (both on writing and reading). Czech grammar is trained on a contrastive basis; Slovak training prefers a communicative approach.
Frequency
In-person teaching.
Exam mode
After a written test, followed by a conversation (grammar and syntax corresponding to B1 level), an oral exam will be taken about the subjects discussed in the classes or on the basis of a list of readings previously agreed. The final evaluation takes account of the result of written test, conversation and oral exam.
