MODERN AND CONTEMPORARY ARABIC LITERATURE

Course objectives

General aims: knowledge of the historical evolution of Arab literature from the Nahdah period (Renaissance) to the present day. Specific aims: at the end of the course the student: 1) knows the historical, social and cultural dynamics of the period under study; 2) is able to contextualize literary currents, poetic schools, writers and their works in a wider historical-cultural framework. 3) is able to present and translate from Arabic some texts learned by teaching; 4) is able to present also in Arabic, and on the basis of oral and written exercises, some argument related to the topics and the literary works analysed.
