CONTEMPORARY HISTORY OF THE ARAB COUNTRIES 2

Course objectives

General educational objectives: the course conveys the fundamental elements for the deepening of knowledge of the history of the contemporary Arab world (the regional system composed of 22 Arab countries) from the mid-nineteenth century to today. Specific educational objectives: upon completion of the course the student will acquire the following knowledge and skills: 1) advanced knowledge of the historical, social and cultural dynamics of the different phases of the history of the Arab world from the mid-nineteenth century to today and, within them, of the specificity of the Arab macro regions and of individual countries, as well as; 2) in-depth knowledge of the history of the interaction between the Arab regional system and the international system; 3) solid ability to present a case study orally and/or in writing related to the contemporary history of the Arab world, with special reference to the history of conflicts in the Arab countries; 4) ability to continue the study autonomously, also based on research in-depth seminars.
