Course objectives

The course sets out to teach translation proficiency based on a number of skills, including both linguistic and cultural competence. Previously acquired knowledge of Portuguese and Brazilian language text linguistics, semantics and pragmatics will be applied to the practice of text translation

Program - Frequency - Exams

Prerequisites
Having passed the Portuguese and Brazilian Language I and II examinations
Frequency
The translation module is semester-long and comprises one two-hour lecture per week. The "lettorato" is semester-long and consists of two two-hour lectures per week.
Exam mode
The final exam includes three tests: 1) written test of "lettorato"; 2) oral test of "lettorato"; 3) oral examination with the professor (translation module); The two oral tests must be supported in the same day. The written examination of the readership includes interpretation, grammar, vocabulary and written production. The oral examination of the "lettorato" reads the level of ability in oral communication. To pass the exam you must obtain a grade of not less than 18/30. In the oral examination relating to the translation module, the student must demonstrate that he/she has acquired sufficient knowledge of the topics covered during the course and of the relevant bibliography. In order to obtain a mark of 30/30 cum laude, the student, in addition to having obtained the highest marks in the "lettorato" tests, must demonstrate that he/she has acquired an excellent knowledge of all the topics dealt with during the course, and of the relevant bibliography, being able to link them together in a logical and coherent manner.
Lesson mode
The course includes: 1) 10h lessons common to all languages 2) a series of lectures on translation from Portuguese into Italian; 3) linguistic workshop.
