Course program
The module comprises:
1)MEDIOLOGY
Review and testing of some fundamentals of mediology
Part 1: History and theory of media (video lectures) 8 hours
2)COMMUNICATION OF CULTURAL HERITAGE AND TERRITORIES
Theoretical learning of current scenarios of the communication of cultural institutions and heritage, followed by field work (analysis of websites and design of web communication tools).
Part 2: Media Environment and Heritage Communication (10 hours)
Part 3: Narrative Pathways and Strategies for Cultural Heritage (4 hours)
Part 4: Communication and planning of territories - Seminar for groups of students, also open to individual participation (20 hours)
Part 5: Setting and discussion of group work (20 hours)
The learning comprises: a) lectures on Communication of cultural heritage; b) seminars by experts in Communication and valorisation of cultural heritage; c) lectures on the qualitative analysis of the communication of institutions in the field of cultural heritage and activities, and on the storytelling of territories and cultural heritage; d) compilation of evaluation grids on the online communication of museums and archaeological sites; e) lectures on planning; f) group work (only for seminar participants) or individual work; g) work on territories.
Prerequisites
a) It is mandatory to register for the "Comunicazione dei beni culturali e del territorio per Teatro, Cinema e Media " 2025-2026 module on the Moodle platform (elearning.uniroma1.it) with the access key "beni25a"
b) It is mandatory to verify the understanding of the instructions of the course, by means of an on-line test on the platform,
c) It is compulsory to verify language skills by means of on-line tests on the platform,
d) Compilation of the Key-skills questionnaire on the platform is mandatory

Frequency
Classroom lectures or elearning. Classroom and online seminar activities.
Exam mode
Students carry out in succession two online tests, present an individual work on the communication analysis of a museum or other asset, and develop communication projects on the territory.
a) Test 1 (multiple choice) on the text by Alberto Magnaghi (The territorial principle: pp.11-183) and on the text by Andrea Balzola and Paolo Rosa (L'arte fuori di sé).
b) Test 2 (multiple choice) on the text by Donatella Capaldi (The electronic museum), on the text by Stefano Calabrese and Giovanni Ragone (edited by, Transluoghi) and on the video lessons
c) Paper: Analysis of the communication strategies of museums and archaeological areas
d) Communication project
The modalities of each test are analytically described in the Instructions on the online teaching platform to which it is mandatory to register. To pass the exam you must have obtained at least 18/30 in all the tests. The final grade is given by the average of the results in the tests (tests and papers have different weights).
Lesson mode
Students must access the communication module of cultural heritage for Studies of history of Arts 2025-2026 on the online didactic platform (which allows learning in e-learning or blended learning between classroom, working groups, creation of materials and online activities), on http://elearning.uniroma1.it. The password is "beni25a"
The "instructions" downloadable from the module describe the sections, the educational materials and the tests to be supported.
The course can be attended entirely in e -learning or blended learning, participating in lessons and seminars - in presence and online - and laboratory activities.
The learning model is therefore mixed and includes:
a) Frontal lessons: General problems / main theories settings (Cognitive Skills / Bloom: 1-2 Remembering-underinging / Tuning: Instrumental skills)
b) Flipped lessons: discussion on materials available gradually on the platform, to reconstruct starting from a specific example the theoretical reference system (problem solving, critical capacity / Bloom: 3-4: Applying-analizing / tuning: instrumental and interpersonal skills )
c) Self Directed-Learning with search for materials and-studio (Learning by doing, Mils-Media / Bloom speakers: 3-4: Applying-analizing / tuning: instrumental skills)
d) presentations by students on themes they chose: students report objects / places of cultural Heritage to be enhanced, providing the first indications on communication interventions to be performed or improve
(Language, argumentative skills, planning of interventions, media languages / Bloom: 3 Evaluating- Creating / Tuning: instrumental and interpersonal skills)
e) seminars: in -depth study with experts on design elements: business plan; Stakeholders mapping (Cognitive Skills: Learning by Doing / Bloom: 1-2 Remembering-underanding and 3-4: Applying-analizing / tuning: instrumental skills)
F) Interdisciplinary group work: assignment of tasks, team work between students of different degree courses, collaboration (Soft-Skills / Bloom: 5-6 Evaluating-Creating / Tuning: Systemic skills)
g) Design: creation of a communication project to enhance a territory of your choice by groups or individuals (Mils, / Bloom: 5-6 Evaluating-Creating / Tuning: systemic skills
h) field work: contacts with stakeholders, III sector and citizens to refine and carry out the project - only by groups (Mils, Soft Skills / Bloom: 5-6 Evaluating-Creating / Tuning: systemic skills)
i) Project group presentation (Mils, synthetic and exhibition skills / Bloom: 5-6 Evaluating-Creating / Tuning: systemic skills)
