Course objectives

The course aims to provide knowledge and understanding of the methodological, critical and applicable aspects of the Discipline; it proposes geographical areas and sectorial perspectives in which related projects are activated; it shows the variability of fields of interest; it enables the student to master the specific topics in order to use them and apply them in other fields of study while using the correct specific language. With the acquired knowledge the student will be able to develop autonomous ability of connections with other disciplines in the various historical epochs and cultural contexts.

Course program
The course aims to provide a critical reflection on scholastic and ethnoclinic mediation in iso- and multicultural contexts and on the processes of inclusion/exclusion of migrant or socially disadvantaged subjects. In this perspective will be proposed some theoretical insights on interpretations, reproductions, negotiations of multiculturalism and on the practices of inclusion towards deprived social actors.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of the institutions and the history of anthropological studies.

Attendance is not required.
Exam mode
Evaluation takes place with an oral examination; the quality and completeness of learning, the autonomy of judgment and reasoning, the acquisition and domination of a specific language are taken into consideration. Subject of evaluation will also be a written report, in the ways and times indicated in the "Development methods" (optional choice). To obtain a minimum evaluation (18/30) the student must demonstrate a knowledge of the topics of monographic books in program with an acceptable expositive property. For the maximum score (30/30 cum laude), in addition to excellent knowledge of the topics in the program, the student must demonstrate reasoning autonomy and full mastery of an appropriate language.
Lesson mode
The course take place with classroom lessons (lectures). Attending students may submit (optional) a brief written paper (5.000/10.000 characters included spaces) or to participate in a written exoneration on topics covered in the lessons (free option) on topics covered in class, which will be evaluated during the examination. Non-attending students must complete the study of the indicated bibliography. Attendance is not required.
