Course program
This class will investigate the history of television and its languages from the beginnings till nowadays. Particular attention will be paid to the ways in which TV formats are created and evolved, with a specific focus on Italian contexts. The class will be divided into three parts: a first one, in which we will focus both on American and European broadcasting models, with particular attention paid to the Italian public service broadcasting; in the second part, we will refer to the changes of TV formats after the introduction in Italy of a commercial broadcasting system; in the final part, we will focus on the historical development of Italian television during the so-called convergence era.
