Cultural Heritage in the Near and Middle East, and in Africa

The web pages outline the ten-year path developed by the University to establish Sapienza’s Quality Assurance system, the organisational model adopted, the QA actors (Quality Team, Monitoring Committees, Joint Faculty-Student Commissions, Quality Committees of Degree Programmes), the active Working Groups, the main activities carried out, and the documentation prepared for managing Quality Assurance processes and activities in Teaching, Research, and the Third Mission.

The web pages also serve as a communication platform and as a repository for reference data used in Review activities, in the preparation of reports by the Joint Faculty-Student Commissions and Monitoring Committees, and for compiling the SUA-Teaching and SUA-Research forms.
Each Degree Programme and Department may adapt the Sapienza Quality Assurance Model described on the Quality Team web pages to its own QA procedures, tailoring it to its organisational specificities while complying with the models and procedures defined by ANVUR and the Quality Team.
The Degree Programme/Department web pages, together with the SUA-Teaching and SUA-Research forms, represent the main tools for communicating how the QA System is implemented at the Degree Programme/Department level.

QA processes will be monitored and evaluated by the Quality Management Group (GGQ), composed of faculty members from the Degree Programme and a unit of technical-administrative staff. Starting from the second year, a student representative will also join the group.

The GGQ of the Master’s Degree Programme in Cultural Heritage in the Near and Middle East, and in Africa prepares the following documents:

The annual monitoring report, presenting and commenting on indicators related to student careers and other relevant indicators;

The cyclical Review Report, including a self-evaluation of the Degree Programme’s performance and an indication of issues and proposed solutions to be implemented in the next cycle.

In performing its duties, the GGQ collects and analyses the report from the Joint Faculty-Student Commission, the evaluation unit’s reports, and the feedback from students and faculty (OPIS questionnaires). Based on these findings and other information, the GGQ examines any issues within the Degree Programme and identifies possible improvement actions.

The GGQ is also responsible for promoting meetings with stakeholders, primarily to assess the alignment between the Degree Programme’s educational project and the labour market’s demand for specific professional profiles. This assessment is also conducted through the analysis of studies and reports on the demand for professional profiles by relevant institutions and organisations.

The GGQ monitors the academic progress of incoming and current students, identifying critical issues and implementing initiatives aimed at support and guidance.

The GGQ usually meets at the start of the Academic Year, at the end of each semester, and annually for an overall review. It also convenes to address deadlines related to the SUA forms or whenever necessary, either on the initiative of its members or in response to external requests (e.g., feedback from students or faculty).

Through the GGQ, the Degree Programme monitors the Review Reports, evaluating results, highlighting strengths and any critical issues, and determining the changes needed; it verifies the adequacy and effectiveness of the Degree Programme’s management; and, where necessary, proposes corrective actions to be introduced in the next Review Report.

The QA Management Committee is structured inclusively and assesses the proper conduct of teaching activities, preparing the Annual Monitoring Report and the DARS-OPIS form.

Consultazioni con stakeholders e parti sociali CdS

•             4
marzo 2025: il Presidente del CdS, Prof. Carlo Cereti, ha incontrato online i
rappresentanti del comitato per la valorizzazione dei beni culturali e del
turismo di Al-Hula (Arabia Saudita). Sono stati approfonditi temi legati alla
formazione dei quadri locali, alla conservazione di siti archeologici e alla
musealizzazione.

•             Marzo
2025: Diversi docenti del CdS (Carlo Cereti, Marco Ramazzotti, Michelina Di
Cesare, Gianfilippo Terribili, Giulio Maresca) hanno partecipato a incontri
telematici con rappresentanti di Qatar Museums e dell’Ambasciata d’Italia. Le
consultazioni hanno evidenziato un forte interesse verso il CdS da parte di
interlocutori istituzionali, particolarmente attivi nel reclutamento di profili
internazionali nel settore culturale.

•             Nella
corso della primavera 2025 si sono tenuti vari incontri telematici con la
Prof.ssa Jouhaina Gherib, responsabile della Cattedra UNESCO per Sviluppo e Turismo
Sostenibile in Africa (University of Manouba - Tunisia). In tali occasioni si è
discussa l’efficacia e potenzialità dell’offerta formativa CdS nel contesto
accademico e professionale dell’Africa settentrionale.

•             3-4
aprile 2025: Il Prof. Marco Bais ha partecipato al workshop “Obiettivi e
strategie di internazionalizzazione nel processo di collaborazione accademica
tra Italia e Georgia”, presso la Kutaisi International University (Georgia).
L’incontro, organizzato dal Polo MINERVA e dall’Ambasciata d’Italia a Tbilisi,
ha permesso di confrontarsi con università georgiane e stakeholder locali sulle
prospettive professionali nell’ambito del patrimonio culturale.

•             9
Dicembre 2025: Il Prof. Gianfilippo Terribili ha incontrato il Governatore
della Provincia di Sulaimaniyah (Kurdistan Region in Iraq) con il quale è stato
possibile illustrare il programma formativo del CdS e discutere di iniziative
volte alla valorizzazione del patrimonio culturale nella società civile irachena
e prospettive lavorative per esperti del settore.

•             19
febbraio 2026: Il Prof. Gianfilippo Terribili ha incontrato la Prof.ssa Beya
Abidi, responsabile internazionalizzazione e programmi Erasmus presso la
Manouba University, per discutere future collaborazioni accademiche. Tra le
iniziative considerate vi sono seminari congiunti e workshop tematici, nonché
la possibilità di scambi Erasmus per docenti e studenti al fine di favorire la
mobilità internazionale e la condivisione di esperienze didattiche.

•             28
febbraio 2026: Il Prof. Gianfilippo Terribili ha incontrato, presso l’Istituto
Treccani, l’Amb. Vincenza Lo Monaco, Presidente IDIAF (Istituto per il Dialogo
tra Italia e Africa), e l’Arch. Maria Teresa Iaquinta, Segretario generale
ICOMOS Italia, per avviare collaborazioni in particolare con i paesi africani
della sponda mediterranea e sviluppare interlocuzioni nel campo della
cooperazione internazionale per lo sviluppo sostenibile.

•             Il 23
aprile 2026: Il Prof. Gianfilippo Terribili ha incontrato, nell’ambito
dell’evento conclusivo del Progetto SHARE AFRICA (Rettorato – Organi
Collegiali), la Prof.ssa Jouhaina Gherib, responsabile della Cattedra UNESCO
per il Turismo Sostenibile in Africa (Manouba University) e delegati
all’internazionalizzazione di diverse unità dell’Africa Mediterranea
(University of Carthage, University of Casablanca, University of Batna), con i
quali si sono discusse possibilità di sviluppare percorsi formativi congiunti e
BIP professionalizzanti.
