Course program
Course Title The Essence of Languages: Knowledge, Uses, and Culture for an Educational Perspective Linguistic knowledge, communicative uses, and cultural aspects are closely interconnected. This awareness serves as a solid theoretical foundation for any learning and teaching approach. From this perspective, the course will address the diversity and comparison of languages and cultures, and then, based on these assumptions, will analyze more closely the more specifically linguistic aspects, such as written and spoken uses, vocabulary, grammar, and textuality. This will be done with a view to continuous comparison between languages and cultures, useful for identifying effective teaching approaches. Practical exercises, group work, and, for attending students, the voluntary preparation of a short essay to present in class are planned. Please note that the credits required to pass the Teaching of Modern Languages exam (L-LIN 02) are valid as a prerequisite for participation in the DITALS exams (Certification of competence in teaching Italian to foreigners) of I and II level.
