Degree programme choice orientation

The SOrT (Integrated Orientation Service)
The SOrT is Sapienza’s integrated Orientation Service. The service has a central office located in the main University Campus and additional help desks distributed across the Faculties. At the SOrT, students can find more specific information regarding the Faculties and degree programs, as well as support in navigating academic choices.
The central office and the Faculty orientation staff coordinate incoming orientation and tutoring projects and provide information on the educational offer and the administrative procedures for admission to the programs.

Orientation Initiatives and Projects
1. “Porte aperte alla Sapienza” (Open Days)
This annual initiative, held at the University Campus, is the most important event dedicated to prospective freshmen and beyond. During the three orientation days, visitors can meet professors and current students, receive information, and attend presentations of all Faculties’ programs in the Aula Magna.
The initiative targets prospective students interested in enrolling in Bachelor’s Degrees, Single‑Cycle Master’s Degrees, and Master’s Degrees at Sapienza, with a particular focus on the final-year students of upper secondary schools.
The event offers all stakeholders the opportunity to discover Sapienza, its educational programs, study and cultural spaces, meeting points, and the wide range of services available to students (libraries and study rooms, museums, university residences, sports facilities, and the university theatre).
In addition to academic information, visitors can obtain guidance on general administrative procedures and, more specifically, on enrollment processes, both at in‑person Faculty stands along the campus avenues and through virtual stands. They can also access specific information about admission notices for entry tests.
To promote inclusive environments and ensure access to higher education, the Office for Relations with Students with Disabilities and Specific Learning Disorders (SLD) provides dedicated support for managing academic careers through personalized study plans and the activation of educational, economic, and/or logistical support for students with vulnerabilities. The Office also guides students through the procedures required to request support measures and indicates the clinical certifications needed.

2. Sapienza Orientation Portal
To support students in choosing their degree program, the University has created an online portal (https://orientamento.uniroma1.it/index.html) offering an immersive preview of university life: users can explore the campus, classrooms, laboratories, libraries, theatre, and music and sports facilities through navigable images and videos; access online learning modules on key course topics; and assess or strengthen their preparation for admission or knowledge‑assessment tests.
The portal also serves as a primary source of information on orientation events organized throughout the year by Faculties and Departments, and it hosts presentation videos for Faculties and for Bachelor’s, Single‑Cycle Master’s, and Master’s Degrees, especially newly established programs.
All orientation initiatives are promoted through the University's social media channels to reach interested students effectively.

3. Self‑Assessment Tools (developed by Sapienza experts and scientifically validated)
a. “Know Yourself” (Conosci te stesso):
Designed to support decision‑making in choosing an academic path. Once completed, it provides a personality profile, an academic profile, and a professional profile.
b. “I, Me, and Others” (Io, me e gli altri):
A tool that measures soft skills—key attitudes relevant to social integration and employability.

4. Orientation Events
The page https://www.uniroma1.it/it/node/347362 lists, in chronological order, all orientation events organized by the University, the Faculties, the Departments, and the CAD/CdS (degree program boards).

Support for Students with Disabilities and SLD
Sapienza supports students with disabilities and Specific Learning Disorders throughout the critical phases of orientation, assessment, and admission.
The “Students with Disabilities and SLD Office” evaluates the individualized measures needed for admission tests, based on the certifications submitted.
For programs with locally or nationally restricted access that require a selective admission test, students with disabilities may request compensatory measures (e.g., dedicated room, extra time, reader tutor, assistant tutor, Italian Sign Language interpreter, calculator), following the procedures outlined in the admission notices.
Finally, the Office provides assistance—supported by specialized tutors, peer tutors, and LIS interpreters—for newly enrolled students in vulnerable conditions.

Activities of the Degree Program (CdS)
To guide prospective students towards informed choices, the Faculty organizes two open days per year and specific activities within the “Porte Aperte” initiative. It also produces dedicated videos and manages the official Instagram page.
For incoming tutoring, the Faculty provides a welcoming tutoring service at the locations where classes for the Degree Program are held.
To supplement the information available on the Study Program Catalogue website, the Teaching Secretariat annually prepares and updates additional informative materials:

a simplified version of the Program Guide (Manifesto), listing required exams with a brief overview of selection criteria;
a set of FAQs explaining all stages of student life—from admission to graduation—including international mobility and internships.

Orientation is also supported by the Degree Program through the in‑person and on‑request online availability of the Teaching Secretariat and the Orientation Center, run by scholarship‑holding students.
Finally, the Sapienza Orientation Portal (also available in English) offers an immersive preview of university life through photos and videos of university facilities, including the Degree Program’s presentation video (https://youtu.be/L_IhswWOzZE).
