Course objectives

The goal is to acquire a foundational understanding of endocrinology in order to grasp the interactions between the hormonal system, nutrition, and metabolism, and to consciously apply this knowledge within the food, wine, and wellness-related choices explored in this degree program.

Regulation of eating behavior and metabolism - Metabolic / endocrinological alterations related to eating behavior such as overweight, obesity, anorexia and bulimia Complications (cardio-vascular, metabolic, bone, reproductive etc ...) of endocrinological diseases related to eating behavior. Notes on the pathology of the hypothalamus and pituitary gland (acromegaly, gigantism, pituitary dwarfism); Thyroid (hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, thyroiditis); Parathyroid glands; Testicle and Ovary; Adrenal glands (hypoadrenocorticism, hypercorticadrenalism); Endocrine pancreas (Type 1 and 2 diabetes mellitus).
