Course objectives

General aims The course aims to have the student acquire more information related to the construction, validation and clinical use of psychological tests. The student will have the opportunity to delve into cognitive and personality tests and deal with coding, compiling a notation protocol as well as writing a testological report. Specific aims Knowledge and understanding By the end of the course, the student will have acquired knowledge of some of the most well-known and widely used cognitive and personality tests in national and international testing. Applying knowledge and understanding He will have acquired the necessary knowledge that enables a choice of psychological tests to be used according to the criteria of validity and reliability. Making judgements The student will have acquired skills in evaluating the properties of psychological tests. Communication skills The student will have acquired communication skills of the cognitive abilities and personological dimensions possessed by a subject to whom a given test covered in the module has been administered. Learning skills The student will have acquired the foundation to be able to continue learning and deepening issues related to psychological testing. Prerequisites Useful knowledge of general psychology, developmental psychology, and the fundamentals of psychometrics.

Program - Frequency - Exams

Course program
The course will be held with the aim of deepening topics related to: definition of psychological test as a measuring instrument; Classic Test Theory (CTT); Theory Response Theory (TRI); Reliability and validity of psychological tests. The in depth analysis will also be possible through exercises on these topics. Subsequently, the objective will be to present some of the most widely used cognitive and personality tests, with the presentation of clinical cases that involved the administration of them. Some of these tests will be explored in the classroom and students will learn how to code and write a testing report. The laboratory will therefore take place with the aim of deepening the definition and use of psychological tests as a measuring instrument. The study of psychometric theories will be paired to a practical study.
Prerequisites
It's useful the knowledge of general psychology, developmental psychology, and psychometric founda-tions.

The course consists of lectures, exercises, simulations, group work, preparation of papers, case analysis, use of telematic media, reflective or self-directed learning (self-directed learning), upside-down lesson (flipped classroom).

Not mandatory but recommended.
Exam mode
Aims of the test - The test is constructed in such a way as to verify the level of learning of basic notions and contents of teaching as well as to verify that he has learned the ability to apply such knowledge in the conscious choice of psychological tests to be used. Tasks included in the exam and temporal placement of the exams - Five exam sessions in the academic year is scheduled. Type of exam, duration and how the test is administered - Assessment is through a written assignment with 27 multiple-choice questions (4 answer alternatives) and 2 open-ended questions. The teacher reserves the decision to require an oral supplement or to have the entire exam conducted orally. Grading - For the multiple-choice questions each correct answer is worth 1 point, for the 2 open-ended questions each is worth 2 points for a maximum of 31 points (corresponding to honors).
