Apprenticeship

Internship and "altre conoscenze utili per l'inserimento nel mondo del lavoro"
The credits for the internship and "other skills useful for entering the world of work" are earned through internal and/or external training activities, as explained below.
The training activities are recorded as an internship as part of the degree application procedures (see Graduating section).
Internal AAFs
The provisional and non-definitive list of AAFs for the 2025-2026 academic year* is available at the following link: go to the page.
The list will also include the activities recommended for obtaining the 3 credits for "altre conoscenze utili per l'inserimento nel mondo del lavoro"
At the end of the activities, the professor will issue a specific certificate** (see forms), which must be sent to the academic secretariat when applying for graduation.
* The list of activities may be subject to change/addition during the academic year in question; please consult the list regularly.

Please note that two teaching certificate formats are available: one specifically for AAF (Academic Areas of Study) and one specifically for other skills useful for entering the workforce. Please complete the correct certificate to ensure the credits are correctly recorded. (For information on recording, see the "Graduating" section.)

EXTERNAL AAF (Academic Areas of Study)
External training activities must take the form of an internship through the TSP Sapienza platform.
For general information and contact details, see https://smfn.web.uniroma1.it/it/tirocini .

External activities must be approved by a CAD (Academic Area Council) before they begin.
When you start the procedure on TSP Sapienza, you must send the request for approval of the external AAF to the secretariat (didattica.dba@uniroma1.it). You will then need to confirm the approval of your training project by the Internship Office and send a copy by email.
The CAD must also request approval of your credits at the end of your internship. In this case, you must send (again to didattica.dba@uniroma1.it) the credit assignment request form, attaching documentation proving completion of the external training program (TSP final report). (See forms.)
For those who have already attended training courses in Sustainability Sciences and enrolled starting in the 2022-2023 academic year, it will be possible to recognize up to 3 credits as "useful knowledge for entering the world of work" by sending a copy of the certificate(s).
IMP: Before starting your thesis work, you must send the thesis assignment form to the Academic Secretariat by email, with a copy of your supervisor.

Graduate

The final exam consists of the presentation and discussion of an experimental thesis on a topic relevant to the objectives of the Master's Degree Program. The thesis, which requires a sufficient number of credits, will typically be begun at the end of the first year of the program and will consist of an original study conducted using rigorous scientific methods. Students will carry out their thesis work under the supervision of a supervisor. If the thesis work, after authorization from the Academic Area Council, is carried out at institutions/structures external to Sapienza University, the external supervisor will be supported by a faculty member from the Academic Area Council.
Part of the final exam may be completed as part of an internship (AAF).

Important: Before starting your thesis work, you must submit the thesis assignment form (see forms) to the Academic Secretariat by email (didattica.dba@uniroma1.it) with a copy of your supervisor.

Procedures for the Academic Secretariat
Registration of internship training activities (approximately 30 days before the graduation session):
For those enrolled starting in the 2022-2023 academic year, internship credits will be registered through specific exam sessions on Infostud, opened by Professor Falasca with the code AAF1045 (7 credits).
To register, you must book according to the normal exam procedures and send a copy of the certificates relating to the training activities completed to the Academic Secretariat (didattica.dba@uniroma1.it) at least 10 days before the exam session and no later than 40 days before the graduation session, indicating the year of enrollment and confirming the booking for the chosen exam session to the Academic Secretariat (didattica.dba@uniroma1.it).
If the activities were completed through TPS Sapienza, it will be mandatory to submit the duly signed final report, which can be downloaded from the dedicated platform (for information, contact the Faculty Internship Office).
If you are unable to view the exam results on Infostud (if you enrolled before the 2022-2023 academic year), you must send an email to the Academic Secretariat attaching copies of the certificates relating to the training activities completed. Credits will be recorded according to the previous internal procedures.
If you do not submit the documentation in a timely manner, you will not be able to record the internship credits and will not be able to graduate in the chosen session.
Recording of the 3 credits "Altre conoscenze utili per l'inserimento del mondo del lavoro" (enrollment starting in the 2022-2023 academic year) approximately 30 days before the graduation session, once the activities have been completed, you must send a copy of the certificate relating to the activities completed to the Academic Secretariat (see forms).
If the activities were completed through TPS Sapienza, it will be mandatory to attach the duly signed final report to the aforementioned form, which can be downloaded from the dedicated platform (for information, contact the Faculty Internship Office).

Thesis
The thesis must be uploaded to Infostud at least 20 days before graduation.

On the day of the graduation session, a paper copy must be brought for viewing only (it will be returned to you).
N.B. Please remember that the information on the Infostud degree application must match the information on the thesis title page. If the title, supervisor, co-supervisor, and any external/adjunct supervisors do not match, the Student Administration Office and the Academic Administration Office are not required to make the change in a timely manner. In this case, participation in the graduation session cannot be guaranteed.
NB: There is no confirmation of receipt of submitted forms and documents. If there are any problems, the Academic Administration Office will contact you directly. However, you can always request a confirmation of receipt of the email sent.

Minor courses

The Minor is an interdisciplinary educational program, complementary to the master's degree program in which the student is enrolled, aimed at broadening the primary training scope and developing professionals with additional skills useful for continuing their studies and entering the workforce.
Acquisition of the Minor is certified by a University certification, with the issuance of an Open Badge, and, if acquired concurrently with the related qualification, is certified in the Diploma Supplement.

Job Orientation

Sapienza's Career Service supports students and graduates during the delicate transition from university to the world of work, providing a variety of services, including:
- assistance and information on services provided;
- individual career counseling;
- CV review;
- training catalog for career guidance and employability development;
- partnership agreements with companies for placement and career guidance initiatives;
- confidential selections;
- organization of recruiting and orientation events;

Career guidance takes the form of specific activities organized by the Career Service and/or by faculties and other university departments, or in collaboration with companies, external public or private organizations, and trade associations.
Career guidance activities may consist of seminars, workshops, and themed events on career guidance, transferable skills, and career management skills (e.g., soft skills, CV writing, active job search strategies, video CVs, social networks, Employability Lab, etc.).
To facilitate contact with companies and organizations, we organize Recruiting Days, Career Days, Testimonial Days, company presentations, company visits, assessments, business games, mentoring programs, or other placement-related initiatives, including those with alumni and company mentorships. These events can be held both online and in person and are aimed at identifying the most suitable candidates for the professional opportunities offered by companies.
Seminars, workshops, and thematic events dedicated to placement (e.g., innovation, start-ups, business incubation, career focus, Innovation Camp, etc.) are also available to students and graduates.

Students and graduates can use the JobTeaser Sapienza online platform to:
• create and customize their CV;
• apply for job opportunities that match their profile;
• consult the list of companies and associations registered on the platform to contact them independently;
• register for recruiting events, company presentations, and scheduled Career Days.

Every year, the Career Service organizes the University Career Day, dedicated to students and graduates from all eleven Sapienza Faculties, as well as various Career Days by subject area or Faculty, such as: Career Day for Humanities and Social Sciences; Career Day for Economics and Law; and Career Day for STEM.

Services, the calendar of events, and opportunities for students and graduates are published on the University website at the following page: https://www.uniroma1.it/it/pagina/career-service-studenti-e-laureati

***Degree Program Activities***
The Environmental Science and Technology Teaching Area Council established a Steering Committee in January 2023. Annual meetings are planned between the Committee members, Degree Program faculty, and student representatives to identify potential career opportunities for graduates in Environmental Monitoring and Redevelopment.
Furthermore, the Degree Course periodically organizes meetings with representatives from the world of work, to which all Master's students are invited to participate.
