SOCIOLOGY OF THE ORGANIZATION
Course objectives
1. Knowledge and understanding: after having passed the exam students will know the following themes: Sociological theories for the study of organizations-the development of mass production and the Taylor-Fordist model- The shift from economy to scale to the economy of flexibility-the organizational architecture and microstructures-the organizational environment and technologies-organizational change and analysis of the role and the profession. 2. Applying knowledge and understanding: after having passed the exam students should be able to carry out organizational analysis with reference to: roles, professions, elements of the organization, structures, organizational typologies and their evolution. They will also have to connect the acquired notions to the reference theories. 3. Critical faculties, consisting in comparing critically concrete application in organizational practices and mechanisms of business development with theoretical models, should be developed through the discussion in the classroom of business cases and scientific articles on emerging topics 4. Communications skills. The ability to communicate what was learned, to use the technical-scientific language and to express and to express different concepts clearly, should be developed through group or individual discussion of company cases 5. Learning skills. The ability to continue studying the topics should be developed through the slides used during the course, which can provide the students with a schematic grid to deepen on the textbooks and the supplementary papers
