Course program
Two types of activities will be carried out during the course:
(a) the main features and elements of complexity of sustainable urban development policies will be presented and explored:
- urbanization processes and the importance of the urban scale for the SDGs
- the success and critical factors of policy making: networks of action, stakes and powers; multi-level, multi-scalar and trans-scalar structuring of policy making and, in particular, the representations and guidance for action of international and transnational global actors (UN, WB, OECD, global think tanks and consultancies, networks of cities); the role of EU institutions and agendas, national governments and local actors (governments and urban stakeholders); and the ways in which these actors interact.
(b) A workshop activity will be conducted on the topic of using digital technologies, with particular reference to artificial intelligence, in policies for sustainable urban development. For these activities, for which a group evaluation will be given, attendance is mandatory.
THE TIME ORGANIZATION OF THE TWO ACTIVITIES WILL BE MUTUALLY AGREED UPON WITH THE STUDENTS.
