Degree programme choice orientation

Orientation Services at Sapienza (SOrT)
The SOrT (Integrated Orientation and Tutoring Service) is Sapienza’s dedicated support service for student orientation. It operates both through a central office located at the main University campus (Città Universitaria) and through local helpdesks established within the Faculties.
At SOrT offices, students can access tailored information on academic programmes, faculties, and courses of study, as well as receive guidance in making informed academic and professional choices. The central office, in collaboration with faculty members, coordinates pre-enrolment orientation projects and tutoring activities. It also provides information on the full educational offer and on administrative procedures for course enrolment.
Main Orientation Initiatives and Projects
1. “Porte aperte alla Sapienza” (Open Days)
Held annually at the main campus, this is Sapienza’s largest orientation event, dedicated to prospective students, particularly high school seniors. Over the course of three days, visitors can meet professors and enrolled students, attend presentations in the Aula Magna on the degree programmes offered by each Faculty, and obtain useful information on courses, admissions, and student services.
The event provides a comprehensive introduction to life at Sapienza: academic offerings, libraries and study spaces, cultural activities, university residences, sports facilities, and more. Dedicated booths, both on-site and virtual, offer information about general administrative procedures and course-specific admissions processes, including entrance exams and calls for applications.
To promote inclusive education, the Office for Students with Disabilities and Specific Learning Disorders (DSA) also participates in the event. It offers consultations to support personalised academic paths and provides information about available teaching, financial, or logistical support for students with special needs. The office also guides students through the documentation and certification requirements necessary to access these services.
2. Sapienza Orientation Portal
Sapienza has developed a dedicated online orientation platform:
https://orientamento.uniroma1.it/index.html
The portal offers an immersive preview of university life through interactive campus tours, videos of lecture halls, libraries, theatres, and sports/music facilities. Users can explore teaching materials, assess their preparedness for entry exams, and enhance their academic skills.
The portal also acts as a hub for updates on all orientation events organised by Faculties and Departments throughout the year. It hosts video presentations of degree programmes — especially newly launched ones — and is widely promoted through Sapienza’s social media channels.
3. Self-Assessment Tools (scientifically validated by Sapienza experts)

  • “Know Yourself”: Designed to assist with educational decision-making, this tool generates a comprehensive report with a personality profile, academic aptitude profile, and professional orientation profile.
  • “Me, Myself and Others”: Assesses soft skills essential for personal development and integration into society and the job market.

4. Orientation Events Calendar
A constantly updated list of all orientation events organized by the University, Faculties, Departments, and Degree Programmes is available at:

Support for Students with Disabilities and Specific Learning Disorders (DSA)
Sapienza actively supports students with disabilities and DSA during the orientation, evaluation, and selection stages of university entry.
The Student Services for Disabilities and DSA Office assesses individual needs and determines the most appropriate accommodations during entrance exams based on medical certification. For admission to restricted-access programmes at the local or national level, candidates with disabilities may request compensatory measures such as:

  • dedicated exam rooms
  • extended time
  • reading tutors
  • support tutors
  • LIS (Italian Sign Language) interpreters
  • calculators, and more

Once enrolled, Sapienza provides individualised support through specialist tutors, peer tutors, and LIS interpreters, helping students in vulnerable situations successfully integrate into university life.
