Curriculum

Serena Di Nepi è professoressa associata di Storia Moderna. Da dicembre 2020 è presidente del Corso di Laurea in Storia, Antropologia, Religioni. I suoi interessi di ricerca vertono sulla storia delle minoranze e della differenza religiosa in Italia, con particolare riferimento al gruppo ebraico in età moderna. Nel 2014, il suo volume Sopravvivere al ghetto. Per una storia sociale della comunità ebraica nella Roma del Cinquecento (Roma: Viella 2013) ha vinto il primo Cherasco per i giovani ricercatori; nel 2020 è stata pubblicata la traduzione inglese aggiornata e ampliata con una nuova introduzione (Brill: 2020). Accanto al filone di studi ebraici, i suoi lavori più recenti hanno indagato la schiavitù nello Stato della Chiesa in età moderna e la questione centrale della relazione tra schiavitù, libertà e conversione religiosa su cui ha da poco completato la nuova monografia "I confini della salvezza. Schiavitù, conversione, libertà nella Roma di età moderna" (Roma: Viella, 2022). Nel febbraio 2023, ha ottenuto l'abilitazione scientifica nazionale come professoressa ordinaria per il settore di Storia moderna. Negli anni, è stata visiting researcher presso la Hebrew University di Gerusalemme (2015), il Primo Levi Center di New York (2017), il Maimonides Center for Advanced Studies dell’Università di Amburgo (2022 e 2024). Ha partecipato a numerosi progetti di ricerca nazionali e internazionali sulla storia degli ebrei in Italia nel lungo Rinascimento. Al momento, coordina con Guido Bartolucci (Università di Bologna), Pierre Savy (Università Gustave Eiffel), Alessandra Veronese (Univesità di Pisa) e Giuseppe Veltri (University of Hamburg) il Gruppo quinquiennale 2022-2026 EFR “J-POL. Jews in Politics in a long Renaissance Italy (13th-17th centuries): practices, discourses, models”. È, inoltre, coordinatrice di unità Roma Sapienza nel quadro del progetto PRIN 2022 “Spatializing Jewish History” (PI: Germano Maifreda) e in quello del PRIN PNRR 2022 “Jewish and Christian Marriages” (PI: Fernanda Alfieri).
