Educational objectives The objective of the module is to examine issues related to the psychological-clinical approach in the field of mental health from a theoretical and practical point of view. Specifically, through an interpretation based on psychodynamic orientation, the theories and methods for treating patients with different levels of severity and psychopathological complexity within the Mental Health Departments of the National Health Service will be explored in depth. At the end of the course, students will be able to: - Identify the characteristics of mental functioning, in different degrees of adaptation to the environment, recognizing indicators of mental suffering in patient histories - Recognize the main psychopathological conditions - Understand the most appropriate care and treatment strategies through the study of techniques related to clinical interviews and the care relationship - Be able to analyze a clinical case and plan an integrated intervention within a multidisciplinary framework Course program Diagnosis and psychological-clinical assessment Elements of psychopathology with reference to the DSM 5 classification Clinical interview and case formulation The main defense mechanisms Attachment theory and Infant Research with specific reference to applied approaches Affective regulation The role of trauma The care relationship: the relationship with the patient, family members, and social network The concepts of empathy and techniques for effective interpersonal dynamics (active listening, management of aggressive dynamics and resistance to treatment). The reception and multidisciplinary treatment of patients within the Department of Mental Health, with specific reference to the role of the nurse within the care team.
