Course program 1. Notes on the history of Psychiatry. 2. Notes on neuroscience, neuro-physiopathological bases related to mental disorders. 3. Phenomenological and descriptive Psychiatric and psychopathological semiotics. 4. DSM -5 TR classification of the following psychopathological conditions: a. Schizophrenia spectrum disorders and other psychotic disorders. b. Bipolar disorders and related disorders. c. Depressive disorders. d. Anxiety disorders. And. Obsessive-compulsive disorder and related disorders. f. Substance-related disorders and addiction disorders. g. Personality disorders. 5. Treatment Principles: to. Psychopharmacology: neuroleptics, antidepressants, anxiolytics, mood stabilizing drugs. Side effects of particular nursing interest. Use of long-acting drugs and role of nursing function with them. b. Physical therapies: Trans-cranial magnetic stimulation and electroshock. c. Integrated approaches: Multifamily Psychoanalysis Groups and Open Dialogue. 6. Psychopathology of substance use disorders and behaviors. Dual Disorder. How dependency services work. 7. Suicide Risk Assessment. 8. Management of the patient in psychopathological acute cases in the Psychiatric Diagnosis and Treatment Services (SPDC) and in the Emergency Department. Use of De-Escalation techniques. 9. Principles of Italian legislation in the treatment of patients with psychiatric pathologies: Law 180/78, Compulsory Health Treatment (TSO), Compulsory Health Assessment (ASO).
Frequency
The Clinical Psychology course will take place in the second semester of the academic year. 2025/2026 in 8 lessons lasting 3 hours each at the "Eastman" unit of the Policlinico Umberto I.
Exam mode
The exam will be conducted orally (alternatively, multiple-choice questions may be given) and will focus on the concepts and topics covered during the lectures, in line with the course syllabus.
