Course program
Introduction to the study of tumors. The cancer cell: morphological and functional characteristics. Benign and malignant tumors. Criteria for the nomenclature and classification of tumors. TNM system. Molecular basis of cell transformation: oncogene and antioncogene. Chemical, physical, biological carcinogenesis. Invasive tumor. Cancer metastatic process. Tumor angiogenesis. Epidemiology of cancer.
Prerequisites
In order to understand the teaching contents and achieve the learning objectives, at the beginning of the didactic activities foreseen by the didactic module the student must possess the knowledge relating to biology (essential), chemistry and biochemistry (important).

Frequency
The attendance is mandatory. The student can take the exam if he reaches 67% of the total number of admissions.
Exam mode
The assessment of knowledge will be verified through a written test that includes multiple choice questions and/or open answers, on topics related to the program developed during the lessons. The candidate must demonstrate having acquired the knowledge and ability to critically interpret the various aspects taken into consideration during the course.
To pass the exam it is necessary to achieve a score of not less than 18/30. To achieve a score of 30/30 cum laude, the student must demonstrate that she/he has acquired an excellent knowledge of all the topics covered during the course, being able to connect them in a logical and coherent way.
Lesson mode
The teacher provides frontal teaching in the traditional way, with audiovisual aids and scheduling of lessons as reported on the Sabina Universitas website.
