Course program
- Introduction to Endocrinology. Biosynthesis, secretion, transport, mechanism of action and metabolism of the different types of hormones: polypeptide hormones, thyroid hormones, steroid hormones, catecholamines.
- Feed-back regulation and adjustment mechanisms. Endocrine pathophysiology and related laboratory diagnostics.
The main hormonal dosage techniques and related related problems
- Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Thyroid axis
- Parathyroid glands: hormonal regulation of calcium-phosphorus metabolism. Vit. D. Multiple endocrine neoplasms (MEN)
- The endocrine pancreas. Glycid homeostasis; Diabetes Mellitus: pathophysiology and diagnosis; Type I and II diabetes; Gestational diabetes; Diabetes: complications
- Surrene. Corticosurrene and glucocorticoids, mineral-corticoids, androgens. Adrenal medulla and catecholamines. Endocrine hypertension.
- GH. Acromegaly, gigantism and dwarfism.
- PRL. Prolacting-secreting pituitary adenoma
- Estrogens, progesterone and testosterone. Menstrual cycle
Prerequisites
Knowledge of various hormonal dosage techniques. Fundamentals of biology and endocrine physiology

Written test, assessment with multiple choice quizzes based on the topics covered by the integrated course and eventual oral exam.
Exam months: June, July, September, December 2024; January, February 2025. The exact day of the exoneration in Endocrinology is subject to the final date of the exam established by the President of the Integrated Course.
