Course program
The course of "Economics and Business Management" provides students with the basic knowledge, of a theoretical and practical nature, useful for understanding the functioning of business organizations. Particular emphasis will be given to the foundations of the enterprise, to the governance arrangements and corporate functions as well as to the main conceptual and operational tools necessary for understanding the behavior of the enterprise within the economic and social system. Through the study of cases and group work, students will be able to understand, apply and analyze the main economic-managerial conceptual categories, the basic theories and logics and the tools related to entrepreneurial organizations, in a unified vision suitable for the development of analytical and managerial skills useful in business practice. In fact, teaching, based on project-based learning, provides for a "design challenge" with the support of local organizations and businesses so that students can develop problem-solving skills by drawing from different sources (thus developing a holistic sense and enhancing the interdisciplinarity of other teachings), of cooperative learning methods (group work) and a correct management of resources in terms of time and material. The course includes the treatment of the following macro-topics: 1. The company and its meaning 2. Theories of business economics 3. The company, the protagonists and the environment 4. The strategic behavior of the firm 5. The company's activities 6. Operating tools 7. Engagement, governance and sustainability

Exam mode
The exam aims to ascertain the possession of the theoretical knowledge transmitted during the course, the analytical and argumentative skills of the student. In particular, the exam consists of a written test (set of closed and open questions on the topics of the program aimed at assessing the level of assimilation and understanding of the main concepts) and an oral integration (aimed at verifying the students' ability to connect the conceptual aspects of the business creation process to the more purely applicative ones and to verify the autonomy gained by the students in identifying and analyzing specific and concrete problems related to the planning of a new business.). For attending students, the final assessment will also take into account the scores achieved as a result of participation in project work and group work carried out during the course.
