Prerequisites
To undertake the Integrated Pathology III course, the student must possess adequate knowledge of: a) anatomy of the digestive tract, liver, pancreas and endocrine system; b) the biochemical basis of carbohydrate, lipid and protein metabolism; c) the basic concepts of cellular and molecular biology.

Teaching mode
The course is structured in lectures and professionalizing practical activities. The fronal lessons consist of a first descriptive part and a second part where, starting from the symptoms or alterations of laboratory tests and instrumental investigations, a reasoned path of diagnostic hypotheses will be traced, a diagnostic path to arrive at a diagnosis of certainty. or probability. The professionalizing practical activities will take place in the departments, in the services and in the skill lab. Frequency
The student must attend at least 67% of the lessons (frontal and professionalizing practical activities)
Exam mode
A written exam consisting of 20 multiple choice questions will be administered. To pass the written test, the student must correctly rest on at least 15 out of 20 questions. The objective of the written test is to assess whether the student has acquired the main notions on the pathologies treated in the course. IN the oral exam, the objective is to assess whether the student has acquired the ability to manage the diagnostic process of the pathologies treated in the course starting from the symptoms or alterations of laboratory or instrumental tests. The number of correct answers accounts for about 30% of the final evaluation

As provided by the art. 3 of the Ministerial Decree 9 May 2018 n. 58, the internship: 1. is aimed at ascertaining the student's abilities relating to "know-how" and knowing "how to be" a doctor, which consists in applying biomedical and clinical knowledge to medical practice, in resolving issues of professional ethics and medical ethics, in demonstrating the ability to resolve clinical problems relating to the areas of medicine and surgery and related specialties, laboratory and instrumental diagnostics and public health; to apply the principles of effective communication; 2. involves a total of three months and is completed no earlier than the fifth year of the course and provided that all the fundamental exams relating to the first four years of the course have been satisfactorily passed, and is organized according to what is established by the administration and regulations of each course of study; 3. takes place for a number of hours corresponding to at least 5 CFU for each month (each CFU reserved for the internship must correspond to at least 20 hours of professional teaching activity and no more than 5 hours of individual study) and is divided into the following (not necessarily consecutives) timeframes: one month in the surgical area, one month in the medical area, one month in the specific field of general medicine, the latter to be carried out no earlier than the sixth year of the course, at the clinic of a general practitioner; 4. the certification of attendance and the evaluation of the internship periods take place under the direct responsibility and care of the university professor or medical director, responsible for the facility attended by the intern, and the general practitioner, who issue formal certification of attendance and express , after evaluating the results relating to the skills demonstrated, if positive, a judgment of suitability, on this booklet-diary, which is divided into a descriptive part of the activities carried out and an evaluation part of the demonstrated skills; 5. it is considered passed only if the suitability assessment is obtained for each of the three periods.
