Course objectives

Acquisition of theoretical knowledge of different acting techniques in a synchronic and diachronic perspective. Experimenting various methodological perspectives for the analysis of artistic research that led to rediscovering the performative knowledge of European tradition and the valorisation of non-European theories and scenic practices.

Course program
The course examines how knowledge has been transmitted within Western acting traditions from the early eighteenth century to the present; acting techniques across theatre and film; the science of acting; and the reformulation of movement principles, including through intercultural experiments between East and West.
Prerequisites
Yo must have passed the propedeutic exams.
Books
A selection of texts will be provided at the beginning of the course.
Frequency
Attendance is not mandatory, but recommended.
Exam mode
Exam consists in a questionnaire.
Lesson mode
Classes will be delivered primarily in lecture format, supported by videos, visual materials, and practical demonstrations. There will also be meetings with professionals from the contemporary theatre scene and with various acting coaches for theatre and film.
