Course objectives

General aims: knowledge of Arabic literary production from the twentieth century up to the present day. Attention will be paid to sources and methods apt to a comprehension of the literary phenomena. Specific aims: at the end of the course the student: 1) knows some of the most significant Arab authors and some works of the literary production of the twentieth century up to the present day; 2) is able to contextualize authors and their works within a general frame of historical-political and literary dynamics. 3) is able to read and translate literary texts from Arabic on the basis of notions learned by teaching; 4) is able to present an argument related to the topic under study both orally and in writing, also in Arabic, and also on the basis of oral and written exercises; 5) is able to autonomously continue his study on the basis of the tools that were provided to him during the exercises.
