Course objectives

The objectives of the Laboratory Medicine course are to make students confident in their knowledge about the clinical significance that laboratory medicine plays in identifying diseases and their complications, and to be able to correlate clinical aspects and variations in clinical laboratory parameters.

Course program
Clinical Microbiology: bacterioscopic examination, culture techniques, proteomic techniques, indirect diagnosis, molecular diagnosis. Susceptibility testing. Microbiological diagnosis and microorganisms involved in infections of the: central nervous system, urinary tract, sexually transmitted infections, gastrointestinal infections, respiratory tract, bloodstream infections, and nosocomial infections. Microbiological diagnosis of fungal infections.
