Course objectives

Educational goals: The course will teach to the students the basics of field mapping. Learning ouctomes: The student will learn how to use the geological compass, to recognize the most common rocks and to map them.

Course program
Basics on principal geological structures (folds, fractures and faults) and on the measurement techniques with the compass. 8 hours. Fundamentals of geological mapping in the field. 40 hours
Prerequisites
Knowledge acquired in GEOLOGIA I MODULO I. From Geografia fisica con elementi di Cartografia e GIS: reading of topographic maps and basics of use of GIS.

Not compulsory but strongly suggested
Exam mode
A practical test will be performed by the students during the field work and will be based on the field work techniques, on the stratigraphic successions observed in the field and on tectonic structures. Students that will not be able to attend the field work will perform a similar test at Sapienza University. For more info please contact the teacher.
